Another Thursday, another dose of new music. Here’s what we’ve been enjoying this past week.
1. Arctic Monkeys – 2013
The b-side to their latest single “Do You Wanna Know”, 2013 showcases Alex Turner bemoaning social media over a fuzzy White Stripes riff: “As for Instagram and Twitter, she got caught in both lassoes”.
2. Icona Pop – All Night
Riding on the much deserved worldwide success of ‘I Love It’, all conquering Swedish duo Icona Pop return today with ‘All Night’ – their new American single that paves the way for the release of This Is…, the girl’s international debut album.
3. The Naked & Famous – Hearts Like Ours
After a great debut album, New Zealand’s The Naked and Famous release “Hearts Like Ours,” the new single from their second album, In Rolling Waves, out September 16. Like much of their debut, “Hearts Like Ours” is a full-bodied, bright, catchy pop production that should sit well with fans and help carry on New Zealand’s swelling wave of excellent new music.
4. Earl Sweatshirt – Hive (feat. Vince Staples & Casey Veggies)
“Hive” is the latest track to surface from Earl Sweatshirt’s forthcoming album, Doris. It’s a characteristically sparse track, with little more than a bass line, drum claps, and the occasional choir sample. Feat some great guests this track really shows off Earl’s rap mastery.
