Another Thursday, another week of amazing new music. Here are our top 4 tracks of last week.
1. Laura Marling – Master Hunter
The second cut from the 23-year-old’s upcoming album, “Once I Was A Bird”. Laura takes her folky stylings up a notch on this track, featuring pounding drums and almost rock riffs all topped of with her distinctive vocal.
2. Disclosure (feat. Eliza Doolittle) – You & Me
Brothers Guy and Howard deliver another hit with the soon-to-be club-dominating ‘You & Me’. Eliza Doolittle may seem like an odd choice of featuring artist but she delivers a strong vocal on a track that further establishes Disclosure as the new kings of the dancefloor.
3. MGMT – Alien Days
Originally released in conjunction with this year’s Record Store Day, the newest track by MGMT was actually sold as a cassette tape. Their next full-length has been forecast to be just as strange–if not stranger–than Congratulations, which will distance them even further from fans they may have gained during their extremely “poppy” debut. However we love this record.
4. Janelle Monae (feat. Erykah Badu) – Q.U.E.E.N.
She’s back! This time with R&B legend Erykah Badu on this spacey-funk song. Discussing a number of things including religious tolerance and the negative depiction of women, ‘Q.U.E.E.N,’ was apparently inspired by a series of conversations held between the two singers who happen to be very close friends.
