Three Six Zero Group are a modern day music industry phenomenon, having made global careers of Calvin Harris, Deadmau5, and Hurts, as well as rebooting Kelis back into the charts and, more recently, co-managing Mark Ronson.
Founded in 2007 by Mark Gillespie, Dean Wilson, and Andy Rutherford, Three Six Zero’s first client was MySpace star Calvin Harris. Success soon flooded in with his debut album, ‘I Created Disco,’ which spawned two massive hits, including ‘Acceptable In The Eighties,’ and subsequent #1 smashes including ‘I’m Not Alone’ and the Dizzie Rascal collaboration ‘Dance Wiv Me’.
In 2009 Three Six Zero Group announced a worldwide partnership between their award-winning producer and electronic artist deadmau5 and EMI. Deadmau5 went on to become the first ever electronic artists to sell out Earl’s Court. At the same time, they launched acclaimed duo Hurts, who have scored a Top 5 gold-selling debut album, ‘Happiness,’ which was released last September. The Group also parachuted a newly dancefloor-friendly Kelis into the Top 5 with her smash ‘Accapella’ and its parent album ‘Flesh Tone.’
January 2011 saw the group announce a worldwide partnership with Jay-Z-owned US entertainment giant Roc Nation. This long-term partnership will see Three Six Zero and Roc Nation working together on live, recording, sponsorship, television, film and merchandising activities, helping further to develop their artists’ careers in both the UK and the US, and connect with fans in new and creative ways. Since the inking of this alliance, Three Six Zero have been co-managing Mark Ronson.
And what about 2011? Key signings this year include legendary DJ and producer Sasha, who is launching a new label, BBC Sound of 2011 dubstep hopes NERO, Serge Santiago and Tom Neville’s Italo disco duo Retro/Grade, house hero Jamie Jones, Deadmau5 protégé Feed Me, Glaswegian-born Burns and epic alternative trio The Empire.
With a roster that represents a solid selection of contemporary artists, electronic performers and DJs, producers, remixers and songwriters, Three Six Zero in Shoreditch now numbers 21 staff, with satellite offices in Berlin, Ibiza and LA. Full roster on www.threesixzerogroup.com
